Getting geared up.

School is around the corner and I am getting it in high gear to start a new phase of my teaching career - modeling. I have debated since my workshop this summer over attempting to go modeling across the board as I also teach Biology in addition to Physics. But after wrestling with it I have decided only to do it with physics for now so I can get comfortable with the process. Once I am more accomplished with the methods I will start to phase some of the techniques in at that point.

I plan to use this as a way to document the progression as I start this new phase. I plan on inviting my workshop mates to read along and join in the discussion if they like, but even if I am just typing to myself I hope the reflection will do me good. Plus maybe some poor soul starting out on this path a few years down the road may benefit from my ideas and situations. Onward and upward!

  1. Bryan,

What a great idea. I've been thinking about blogging my modeling experience as well! You've inspired me to make the commitment. You can find my ramblings on a blog I started a year or two ago to collect all the stuff I do that is related to science education.

Just so you know, you can post to Blogger via email, so you should be able to post from school even if you can't read what you post. If you do want to be able to read your blog in school their may be a way around the filters. You can buy a domain name ($10/year) and use that for your blog. Most filters block by domain name, so will block blogspot.com

My blog is hosted by Blogspot but I bought a domain name and so it doesn't look like a Blogspot blog. This allows people in schools that filter blogsopt to read my blog, but wouldn't help you when trying to login to blogger to post and such.

  2. Thanks Steve. I already figured out the email thing. In fact my second post is from email (the font is different). I will check into domain names though.. Thanks. I will link your blog to mine!
